Brian Crawford Young was born in Glasgow. After a career in broadcast television as a documentary film editor, he moved to Forres in the north of Scotland, took up painting, and graduated with honours from Moray School of Art (University of the Highlands and Islands) in 2008.
Brian is an expressionist painter whose work is concerned with the way surface and colour interact on the picture plane. This usually, but not always, takes him into the realms of non-objective abstraction. His main artistic concerns are centred on colour and surface, and the creation of spatial effects using these two attributes alone.
